2020 is officially over and 2021 is meant to be promising. People are ready for a new year and a fresh start. A walk away from last year, but taking a few things with us.
Wellness trends in 2021 are still forming, but there are a few themes to look out for when maneuvering this new and invigorating chapter of our lives.
- A blending of preventative wellness and health care.
- Improvement and preventative care for the immune system.
- At-home wellness.
- Radical self care
- Community wellness
So if you are a fan of mental health, and I hope you are, this is the right read for you.
A blending of preventative health and wellness
For the longest time healthcare and mental health care have been industries where people would come physically seek out care when they were already experiencing issues.
Prevention is the current wellness trend coming into 2021.
Essentially what I mean by preventative wellness is that you seek out care as a means to preventative mental health. You seek out help before your mental health symptoms worsen so you don’t get yourself to a place where you are really struggling.
Prevention Vs. The Long Game
Recently our wellness centers have seen a rather large increase in people who are actively struggling with pretty severe mental health issues.
What is interesting is that we are also noticing that people are calling us and working on themselves before the mental health condition really gets out of control and this is something new.
This new blending of healthcare and wellness is impactful and positive, while prevention has always been a keystone of importance for any type of medical condition.
This first trend is a wonderful force to be reckoned with. And I mean that. You should try it if you haven’t already. Living a more mindful life leads to less stress. And less stress leads to less bodily inflammation…. A happy and healthy YOU.
Making sure our immune system is in tip- top shape.
The second trend that we are starting to notice is wanting to make sure that immune systems are pumped up.
People are now focused on improving their health. They want to make sure that they are not going to get sick. This is when seeking nutritional services can be incredibly helpful.
Where do I find nutritional services and will they help my immune system?
We do all this remotely at Makin Wellness. In addition to nutritional services, there’s also different types of genetic testing that you can have done and nutritional groups that you can attend.
Every one wants to stay healthy. Every one wants to prevent getting Covid, which is absolutely understandable.
At-home wellness has found its place.
The third trend that we are noticing is at-home wellness.
This is something that was starting to take place, but then Covid happened accelerating this sectors growth.
What is home wellness?
Referring to home wellness is to say that people now want to do things remotely or have the ability to improve their health while being at home.
Companies like Pelaton and other fitness companies are really taking off because they offer people the ability to exercise and get better at home with equipment paired with digital classes.
Makin Wellness is the same with virtual mental health care. You don’t need to go to one of our physical locations anymore in order to get effective mental health treatment.
At-home wellness provides a sense of safety.
People are really excited and passionate about being able to improve their health from home, having the ability to stay safe as a result.
Radical Self Care
This can look different for every one, but at its root means that you are putting self care and self preservation first. With a rise in depression, changes in family dynamics, and economic uncertainties this is not much of a surprise and completely relatable to everyone.
Given the opportunity to take a mental health day, you absolutely should.
Community Wellness
This may seem contradictory to radical self care, but people are looking out for each other as well. By nature, humans are social creatures. The pandemic has exposed many of the flaws in our society, pushing us to recognize that we have a responsibility to do anything within our power to address them. It won’t be unheard of to see wellness re-framed from something that is ‘for me’ to something that is ‘for all.’
